You Have a Superpower !
Updated: Jan 24, 2020
I have always been a big fan of Yogananda. From his most famous well known book, Autobiography of a Yogi to his collection of tiny little pocket books. ( For those of you that know me I am on a mission to have the worlds biggest tiny library, I love little books ) One of my favourite tiny Yogananda books is called Scientific Healing Affirmations. One part in particular really stood out for me. He stated that even if one is dying of a terminal illness, it is most important to visualize oneself in perfect health till the very end. For a long time this concept kicked up a lot of fuss in me. Isn’t this denial of reality ? Somewhat delusional ? What’s the point ? After many years of thinking about this concept, I've come to realize it is the power of the thought of perfect health and its affect on every particle of your being that is so important. Your thoughts are your superpower !!

We have thousands of opportunities a day to choose which thoughts are worth cultivating. One single thought can ignite or destroy our well being. I find this is crazy and wonderful all at the same time. I believe thoughts create feelings, you have a thought and the energy of that thought is set into motion throughout the body ( e-motion ). This makes me completely responsible for how I feel, no longer can I blame anyone or anything for my state of being.
In last weeks post I wrote about how focusing on the heart increases its radiance. Another amazing by product of focusing on the heart is the heart begins to take over the brain. Well thank goodness !! Sixty percent of the hearts cells are neural, identical to those in the brain. Essentially your heart is a brain, how cool is that ?! The heart knows exactly which thoughts are worth focusing on and exactly which thoughts to let pass so I’d like to share an easy technique to shift from a mind centred self into a heart centred self. Close your eyes imagine your brain, eyes, nose and mouth sinking down and settling into your heart, take a few deep breaths and quietly give your heart permission to take over. I find this technique makes it easier to mange and sort the million thoughts per day I am bombarded with and I truly hope it does the same for you.

See you next Thursday !
